I don't think any of it has anything to do with the other themes of the song apart from maybe the last line. The chorus is a little more difficult to decypher. We can all pretend to have/be these things and we can all also try to attain them. It's true: we can't all wear designer clothing or get PhDs or be in the FBI. This verse is about how the study of DNA and the discovery of its role in our personalities/behaviours has alleviated responsibility for our actions ('No one owes you, no one's to blame Then the last three lines are about living life (wrong, right or not at all) in acceptence of these flaws. 'You can be cool or you can cry' and they will remain. You can pray as much as you want and they will remain. I think this verse is about accepting your flaws whether they be acquired (gummed/messed up) or inherited (brain dead/stupid) because in the end there's not much you can do to change the fundamental ones. It's mostly about having acceptance of the unchangable things in life and searching for answers. I think there's a few messages in here and they're all pretty general themes in life.
